January 2025
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
I am writing to inform you that I have tendered my resignation as a staff of Singapore Youth For Christ with effect from March 2025 (my last day with SYFC being 28 Feb 2025).
It has been a struggle after the pandemic to return to Ipoh on a regular basis. During all the years I was stationed in Ipoh, my older sister has been the sole caregiver for my mother; my mother has been diagnosed with early vascular dementia. Having witness my mom's deterioration in her mental ability in recent years, coupled with my sister's own health concerns (she has a congenital heart condition), I thought it best to be stationed back in Singapore to learn to take care of both of them now when their conditions are still manageable. This will give my sister a break from caregiving duties.
After my resignation, I will still be meeting the children in Myanmar for English lessons via zoom every week, following up with 3 youths from Kg Bali (a Ipoh outskirt outreach work) and supporting Grace Methodist Church (Ipoh) and Kg Bali Tuition Outreach ministry in providing them and training them to use resources for their children/youth ministry. The school English classes and mobile library will be fully taken over by the three staff with supervision by the ministry coordinator of the ministry who is a staff of SYFC.
I am thankful to God for giving me the privilege to serve Him in a full-time capacity for so many years. I am also thankful to God for the support that you and many others have given to the work of reaching youths and children, particularly in Ipoh. The regular prayers, co-labouring and financial support for the work have been a great encouragement to me.
Ministry by no means ends with my resignation from SYFC. Please pray along with me that I will continue to be faithful to do His work and proclaim the gospel where He will lead. Trusting in
God’s sovereign plan,
Boon Jin
