Saul Persecutes the Christians
"As for Saul, he made havoc
of the church,
entering into every house, and haling men and women committed
them to prison."
Acts 7:54-8:3
Saul was destroying the church.
The Christians gathered together to listen to the disciples, but
Saul despised the followers of the Lord Jesus and His teachings.
He didn't go after the Christians because he hated God-no, far
from it. Saul had studied the Bible and thought he was doing his
best to help God. He even thought he was serving God by persecuting
these men and women. He was blindly serving the Lord in his own
way instead of in God's way.
The problem was that Saul didn't believe that Jesus was God's
Son. Saul was a picture of the antichrist, which is what the Bible
calls those who are against Christ and therefore against God Himself.
How terrible it is to be against God! Ask the Lord to show you
how to serve Him according to His will.
Would you still believe in God if that meant going to prison for
your faith?
