Why are some kids so big and other kids so small?

"But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth;
for man looketh on the outward appearnace,
but the Lord looketh on the heart".
I Samuel 16 : 7

People come in all different shapes and sizes. Just look at adults. Some professional football players weigh over 300 pounds, and some professional basketball players are over 7 feet tall. Most people, however, are much lighter and shorter than that. Kids come in different sizes too. They also grow at different rates. A girl might grow quickly and seem very tall compared to other kids. But in a few years, other kids will begin growing and pass her in height.

It can be frustrating to be very small or very tall right now, but eventually these things average out. Be patient. Size won't matter so much in the future when everyone has finished growing. Remember, too, that God is the one who's helping you grow-at the speed that's just right for you.

ACTIVITY
Do you have a growth chart in your home? If not, here's how you can make one. You'll need a long piece of paper to mark your height as you grow over the next few months. But make it wide enough to also write in your talents, hobbies, favourite books and other things that show you are a special person made by God.
