CHILDREN'S OUTING
19 June 2010
"I
can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
Philippians 4:13
Last Saturday's outing on
the 19th of June was one in which God in His goodness blessed.
Being a Saturday, I was not really expecting any one to turn up.
Requests were made at our church's Wednesday prayer meetings for
the occasion. God was gracious to us. He granted us at first,
5 children. One day before the outing however, one child pulled
out.
I am thankful, for the four which the Lord gave us an opportunity
to minister to. One of which, Ray Na, sister Gim Choon's contact
was able to come. This girl had actually attended the very recent
children's meeting at sister Gim Choon's house. I am thankful
to the Lord for enabling her to come. Two brothers, Rainer and
Cleavant had been coming for various children's meetings since
their first VBS session with us last year. Thank God for also
making it possible for them to come. One child, Wan Qing has been
regularly attending our Chinese Service Sunday School. Some of
them have made profession of their trust in the Lord as their
Saviour. Please pray for wisdom to follow up these children.
The story that was told during the outing centered on the theme
of soccer and friends. It not only touched on the sin problem
and our need to be forgiven of our sins, it also touched on the
fact that Jesus can help us through the problems that we face
daily. The theme verse was Philippians 4:13. It is our prayer
that the children will first know Christ as their Saviour and
also realize that He cares for them in every situation that they
go through and that they can call upon Him.
God was gracious to arrange for willing helpers to serve at the
outing. Grace, Geraldine, Wang Kin and sister Gim Choon helped
in the games, counseling of the children and collection of food
for the children. With a smaller group of children, there was
ample opportunity for a close one on one counseling session and
fellowship with the children. We were also blessed with good weather
which enabled us to carry out the activities for our program smoothly.
Thank God for answering prayers.
