CHURCH CAMP 2010
THANKSGIVING

Praise the Lord for a wonderful camp in Penang, Malaysia (8-11 June). The camp theme was "Citizens of Heaven" by Dr William Harding. Dr. Harding delivered five messages which were clear and concise. It was a simple exegesis of the text and lots of practical applications for our Christian life. It was good to be reminded of the characteristics of a citizen of heaven.

God's Word came forth powerfully from the speaker. I heard of some feedback from the campers that they were blessed by the messages. It was clear and simple to understand. It was also loud to be heard clearly by everyone. Most importantly, some were convicted by God's Word. I believe our lives will be transformed when we adhere and obey God's Word. The Christian life is a life of submission to God's Word. If we are willing to do that we will be greatly blessed by the Lord.

The Hardings are not as strong as before, especially, Dr Harding. He had a major operation on his hip in November 2009. Both Life BPC and Grace Church were not sure if he could make it for this camp in June 2010. Both our churches were in contact with Dr Harding. I spoke to him sometime in February 2010 to see if he was fit enough to come to Singapore for the camp. His answer was a definite YES! He was looking forward to be with us at this camp. You have heard that he has been in Singapore for 14 times. As long as he has the health and strength to come and preach in Singapore we will see him again.

God was very gracious to him. He recovered fast from his operation. I praise the Lord for Dr Harding and his love for God's people and their spiritual well-being. He is also an evangelist as you would notice in his preaching when he will call for lost souls to believe in Jesus Christ. You do not see many preachers like this today in the church. Praise the Lord for the opportunity to have him in our church camp.

Filadelfia
Praise the Lord also for Sis Ang Liang and her two children who were with us in this camp. She gave a report on the ministry of Filadelfia and Shelter Home. The Lord is good to bless this work and we rejoice with them.

Camp committee
I thank the Lord for a good camp committee this year. Under the capable leadership of Bro Eric Ng, the committee did something different. Nobody thought of going to Penang, until someone "jokingly" mentioned about Penang as a possible campsite. Rev Eric Kwan of Zion BPC (Serangoon Gardens) helped me to get in touch with a tour group and that was how a group of us visited Penang to look for a hotel. Praise the Lord for Session's full support for this camp to be held in Penang and for the approval of subsidy to be given to the campers. It was an encouragement to the camp committee.

Pray for the formation of next year's camp committee as we will have to book the venue soon. The next camp speaker will be Rev David Yan. Will we fly to our next destination for our church camp? Let us pray for the Lord to lead us in this matter.

I encourage us all to make an effort to come for the next camp.
