God As A Liar

"And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:"
Genesis 3:4

Adam and his wife were very happy. Every day they delighted in the pleasures God gave them. Their greatest joy was when God talked to them as a father and friend does.

Adam and his wife were determined to obey God and to live holy lives. But Satan, who once had been favored by God, came with a dreadful plan.

While the woman was walking through the splendid garden, she heard a voice. It was Satan speaking through a snake, one of the cleverest animals God had created. How wicked were his words! Satan turned upside-down everything that God had said to Adam. According to him, God was a liar. If they would eat the forbidden fruit, they would not die, but they would be like God!

And then, the terrible thing happened. Adam joined the woman in believing Satan and in disobeying God. We were created perfect, but now rebelled against God!
