Is it all right to throw rocks at someone
who threw rocks at you?

"Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, & a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also."
Matthew 5 : 38-39

It is not right to do something bad to someone just because that person did something bad to you. The Bible calls that returning "evil for evil" & Jesus says it is wrong. Instead of trying to get back at people who hurt us, we should talk about the situation with God and leave it with him. It's all right to protect ourselves, and certainly we should tell an adult, but it's not OK to get even. This may seem unfair, but only God knows how to judge fairly. So we need to let God take care of making things right. Getting back at others only makes matters worse.

Just because someone else is sinning doesn't give you the excuse to sin. You should always try to obey God. God's way is not always easiest, but it's always the best.

ACTIVITY
Is there somebody who does mean things to you? God knows that it is hard not to try and get even with that person. But don't get even. Instead, get out your prayer journal. Write down the person's name in the left column, pray hard for him or her, & be ready to watch God answer your prayers.
