Why doesn't God give us some things we pray for?

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, & He shall direct thy paths".
Proverbs 3 : 5-6

God is much wiser than we are. He knows what will happen if we get some of the things that we pray for. He can see all that is happening all over the world in every person's life all the time. He wants the very best for each of us. So sometimes, God does not give us what we pray for because it could hurt us or turn us the wrong way.
At other times, God doesn't give us what we ask for right away. He wants us to wait patiently for his timing.
Remember that God will never ignore your prayers. He loves you, hears your prayers and works things out the best way possible. You can trust in God's great care for you. He always has a good, loving reason when he doesn't give you exactly what you prayed for.

ACTIVITY
Today's passage from the Bible is a favourite one for many people. Write it down on a card and memorize it. Then, whenever you pray, do as verse 5 says: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart."
