Why do my friends break their promises to me?

"Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay".
Eccls. 5 : 5

Only God is perfect and will never break his promises. Most people who make promises intend to keep them, but they may forget. Or circumstances may change. For example, a friend may say that you can visit anytime, but a baby brother arrives and the family limits the number of visitors for a while. Sometimes, people make promises that are almost impossible to keep-like saying, "I will never get angry with you."

If a friend breaks a promise to you, let that person know how you feel, but try to be forgiving and understanding. Ask God to help you make only promises that you can keep. Then do your best to keep those promises.

ACTIVITY
Work on being a person who keeps promises. What promises have you made lately to God, to your parents, to your friends and to yourself? Make a list and determine to keep them.
