CHRISTIANITY AND THE INTER-FAITH

There is no problem for Christians to follow the government ruling of religious harmony. We are all for our nation to live in peace amongst the different religious groups. It is a good thing what the government is doing to preserve peace in Singapore.

The recent saga of Pastor Rony Tan of the Light House Evangelism was most unfortunate. Time and time again we have to be reminded of how sensitive this matter can be. As long as we keep in line with the Biblical teachings we will not be faulted.

This is so true when we witness to someone. Do not run the person's religion down. Do not criticize his/her faith and belief. Just simply share the Gospel. God is able to touch the hearts of these people. Do not argue with them. If the situation turns ugly, stop the witnessing session. We are not there to create trouble with anyone.

When you pass a Gospel tract to someone, do not force it on the person if he/she refuses to accept it. When you go tracting in an HDB flat or to a private home, please make sure you ring the bell of the home and give the tract to the person personally. Please read the tracts before you give them out to know the content. Do not pass them "Chick Publication" tracts.

Christianity and the Inter-faith: We will always have the non-Christians with us. They may be our family members, friends or relatives. Our duty is to witness to these people (Mark 16: 15). We cannot keep quiet about our Saviour, Jesus Christ. We must tell them that Jesus is the only way to heaven (John 14: 6; Acts 4: 12). We should do it tactfully as we witness the truth to them. And the truth will set them free!

As a Pastor I have been invited on several occasions to inter-faith gatherings. I have not attended one and I don't intend to do so. That does not make me an anti inter-faith person. I respect the belief of others but I will also speak to them about Jesus, which is my duty to do so. Would you not do so if you have the opportunity before you?

We are Christians who will support our government in keeping peace in our nation. But at the same time, it is imperative for us to witness for the Lord. Jesus is coming again soon and there is no time to lose in sharing "The Good News of Jesus Christ" to a lost world.
