OUR CHURCH EXPANSION PLAN

Dear Gracians, let us trust the Lord to lead us in this matter. Let us not sit ideally over it. If we want to see our church grow and expand we will have to trust the Lord in leading us to do this work. We all believe that our God is the God of the impossible. He can do great and mighty things for us if we will only call upon Him and trust Him (Jer. 33: 3). I call on all of us to come and pray earnestly together in the prayer meeting on this crucial matter. Planning alone is not sufficient. Without prayer we might as well not take on this project.

Grace Church have been looking for a site to have a new building or to buy over existing building for many years. We had tendered for the church site in Simei which was won by Moriah BPC. We have also been slow in making the decision to buy over the back property. The back property was offered to us for $1 million in 1991 when the family wanted to emigrate. Someone bought the building and now it had been sold to another person for $3.6 million. I believe in the sovereignty and providence of God, but I also believe we must have faith and move quickly to get something we need for the church.

I remember many years ago when we wanted to tender for a church site in Hougan. A group of "experts" told us not to enter because, after their survey and calculation they felt that Grace Church will not be able to raise the money for the project. So we did not bid for the site.

Beloved, when we are in the Lord's work, we must know that this is His work. If we begin to think and rationalise things like the people of the world, God will not be pleased to bless us. I think of Shalom BPC, our daughter Church in Pasir Ris, when they went forth, trusting the Lord to help them find a site to have their own church building, with only a small group of members. See what they have today!

The Lord's work must be done in His way. If the world's method is employed (I am not saying that we should not use it at all), we should be discerning. The element of faith must be there. "And Jesus, answering, saith unto them, Have faith in God" (Mark 11: 22). Our God is great. He can do great things for us. He can do the impossible things for us. Do you believe it? Brethren, if we doubt Him, and depend on our own wisdom to do things we will not succeed. We will remain here for many more years and we will always have problem with space for Bible classes, etc. Come and pray and trust in the Lord to lead us on.
