PREACHING THE WORD OF GOD
IN AUSTRALIA

Thank God for a pleasant trip to Melbourne, Australia (March 31- 10 April) at the invitation of Rev (Dr) Patrick Tan to speak in the Ebenezer B-P Church Family Camp over the Easter period. The campsite was in Grampians National Park in Halls Gap. It was a pleasant four hours drive to the campsite and another six hours drive back to Ebenezer by the Great Ocean Road.

I had to preach six camp messages and one message for Easter Sunrise Service. On the day of arrival, 1 April, I spoke in Ebenezer's Maundy Thursday (Good Friday) service in the evening. Thank God for good health to do the work of the Lord. I was afraid that my voice would give way as I have to preach eight messages. The Lord is good to sustain me in His work. Praise the Lord for my wife, Ser Kim, who was able to come along with me.

Ebenezer BPC is a small congregation about the size of Grace Church. They have a good number of Singaporean and Malaysian students in the church. Many Singaporean and Malaysian immigrants are attending this Church. There is a small number of white Aussies in the church too and some came for the camp. They have integrated well with the Asian Christians.

I am very happy to meet up with some old friends, like Elder Edward Meyer, who was with us in the B-P Synod in the 1980s. Old friend like Bro Hai Seng is also in this church.

It was also good to have Bro Raymond Seah and his family in the camp. They were visiting their two daughters in Melbourne and decided to join us.

Praise the Lord for a B-P Church in Melbourne witnessing for the Lord. Pray for their outreach work. There are many cults in Melbourne, especially the Jehovah Witness (JW) who are actively propagating their faith. The work is not easy in this part of the world where there are so many nominal Christians. It is also not easy to get believers coming for a weekday church activity. Ebenezer's members meet only on Sunday for worship service and Friday for the prayer meeting. Most people live far from the church.
