ABOUT FOLLOW -UP

Follow -up goes beyond evangelism. In the great Commission, (Matthew 28:19, 20) we are commanded to preach the Gospel and to make disciples of all nations. A disciple is "one who follows." A disciple is one who follows Him- one who takes Christ as a model, imitating and obeying Him.

Follow-up is a teaching process. A newborn babe must not be left to his own devices to exist. No more should a babe in Christ be left alone. Evangelism is not enough. The babe in Christ must know the facts of His Word in relation to salvation and that he must begin to obey the Lord. This checking-up, teaching, encouraging nurturing ministry is the essence of follow-up.

The goal in follow-up is to present each Christian- children included- mature in Christ Jesus (Colossians 1:28, 29)

The objectives of follow-up include helping a child . . .

1. Gain assurance of his salvation

2. Experience spiritual growth in order that he will trust the Lord for victory and daily become more conformed to the image of Christ

3. To be willing to allow the Lord to use his life for service.

4. To become established in a local church
