My Testimony

I went for a medical checkup on 4 Aug 09 to examine if I was fit for the physical training that was initiated by my boss. I got the result on 7 Aug. The doctor, who examined me, told me that she was referring me to Raffles Hospital for an ultra sound test as she was not comfortable with the reading of my blood test result.

I went to the hospital for the ultra sound test and was told by the doctor that he would like to refer me to an urologist as he suspected some problem with my left kidney. At the urologist office, I was told of the suspicion of a growth in the left kidney which was cancerous and I needed to go for the CT scan. The result was a confirmation that the kidney was invaded by malignant cancer cells which necessitated an immediate operation. After receiving the news, I went to the Lord in prayer seeking for His bounteous mercy and guidance.

There was no worry, panic or fear but I felt calm and peace in my heart. As I did not have any confidence in this doctor to perform the operation, I called Pastor and broke the news to him. During this conversation, the subject of a friend of mine, who is involved with a charity in the field of cancer came up. Pastor said that God had put her in my path and I should approach her.

I called Mrs Yeo to inform her of my situation and she referred my case to Prof. Christopher Cheng, Head of the Urology Centre in SGH. My appointment with Prof Cheng was arranged on 14 Aug '09. He confirmed that my kidney was cancerous and he suggested that the operation to be done on 19 Aug. Throughout this whole episode, I felt no fear in me whatsoever for I know Jesus is near. He removes my fear and gives me joy in the participation of His plan. It was God's goodness that I felt. I believe in God and rejoice in His goodness and mercies not because of who we are but due to His infinite love, He has made us by His grace.

In summary, as we seek to trust God, follow and obey His Word and rely upon His Spirit, the Lord is using His providential control and care to grow and mature us. As our relationship with our Lord deepens, we can hear the voice of our Lord ringing through our prayers. Thus we grow from the immature little kids, playing with toys, into responsible adults, living and caring for others and praising and worshipping His Holy Name all day long.
