Devotion for Kids

"And said, For this cause shall a man leave father & mother, & shall cleave to his wife: & they twain shall be one flesh?"
Matthew 19 : 5

God invented marriage because people need someone to be close to and to love and be loved by. He also created marriage because He knew it was the best way to bring children into the world. God knows what is best for us. He knows that babies & children need a mother & father to protect them & care for them. Marriage is good. In fact, God brought the first man & woman together in the Garden of Eden before any sin came into the world. God's best plan is that husbands & wives stay together, work out their problems and be good parents.

If it is God's plan for you to get married someday, He has someone special in mind for you. When the time is right, you can count on God to bring the 2 of you together. Just ask God to help you know His plan for you. Then He will give you a happy marriage (or a happy life as a single person)!

ACTIVITY
Have you ever been to a wedding? If your family has a wedding album, look at the photographs. Ask if anyone remembers some of the words that were said during the ceremony.
