Evangelism
- God's Heartbeat for the World
Looking at Jesus the Master
Evangelist I got to know how God made an appointment for Jesus
to keep. The path to this appointment took Him through Samaria.
A very needy woman met the Saviour, and her life was transformed.
I'm sure there are occasions in your lives where you too must
"needs go through" your "Samaria". God's Appointment
Book has led me to meet Elsie Yeo (age: 70+) who has a spiritual
need. A few of us visited her at Kheng Chiu Happy Lodge on 7th
Nov. Praise the Lord she responded to the gospel and prayed to
receive Christ as her personal Lord and Saviour.
Jesus' way of evangelism, changes. He does what the Father does,
"I only do what my Father does" (John 10:37,38; John
5: 31-47). That is why it is important to sense what the Lord
is speaking through His spirit. Jesus never heal in the same way
at all times. For instance He heals the leper, opens the eyes
of the blind He put the mud and to the lame He said, "take
up your bed and walk".
The past three months of Evangelism sessions covered several approaches,
methods and techniques like conversational evangelism, sharing
your testimony, the gospel bridge, using tracts and questionnaires,
EE gospel presentation, gospel hands for children and learning
the essential vocabulary in Hokkein to reach out to the old folks
as well as the Romans Route -
- Romans 3:23: All have sinned
- Romans 6:23: Eternal life is a free
gift of God
- Romans 5:8 : Because of His love for
you, Jesus paid the death penalty for your sins
- Romans 10:9-10: Confess Jesus as Lord
and believe that God raised Him from the dead
- Romans 10:13: Ask God to save you,
and HE will.
It takes a great deal of
practice to be really good in witnessing. We need to build genuine
relationship with people. It involves casual conversation with
people whom we come into contact daily. Engaging questions that
ask about their lives' values and experiences and then moving
on to meaning dialogue, to talk about their faith.
An average attendance of seven people attended the Evangelism
Training Class. The visit to Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home reached
its climax on Dec 5, with twelve Gracians and 17 students from
Springfield Secondary School learning to care and interact with
the old folks. We began feeding the old folks with pau and tao-huay-chwee
at 12:30 pm. After food was the song presentation and games by
the girls' brigade from Rachel Teo's school. And then two dialects
songs and gospel message on John 3:16 preached by Rev Lee Fatt
Ping. The last half-an-hour some of us managed to share our faith
with them and also invited some of the school girls, nurses and
workers in Lee Ah Mooi Home to our Church Christmas Film Festival.
We are glad to see Bro Fong Tuck Seng happy face too.
Jesus chose and trained a group of men to take the gospel to the
world. As I thought of Jesus praying in Gethsemane I believe HE
could have been praying that HIS disciples and others down through
the ages would be faithful in finishing the work of reaching the
world with the gospel. Let us pray for ourselves that God would
give us wisdom and strength to be good witnesses in how to speak
God's truth to those around us. Pray also for open doors to plant
seeds of the Gospel with others. This coming Christmas pray for
your boss, clients, friends, colleagues and family members - asking
God to move in their lives.
