EVANGELISM TRAINING

The Evangelism Seminar was not only just over but it is actually the beginning to see the Lord working in and through us. "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them (Eph. 2:10)." Evangelism is an ongoing task that needs to reinforce witnessing as a way of life. In so doing our Church is planning to have 10 Evangelism Training Sessions on Saturday, at 3:00 pm, starting from 12 September 2009.

The equipping program covers some of the evangelism skills on:

  • Making Friends - Always be in prayer for the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us. Knowing what the need of the people at the moment and then say a prayer of blessing for them in whatever way they request … that is the key that open their hearts to the Lord in the future. This is not a sinner prayer but it will be their first connection to the living God. Bringing God into their life. You are the intercessor. Pray for all people (I Tim 2:1). You might be the first connection and the Lord might bring another 3 or 4 friends before they fully accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. So we are opening a door in their hearts for the Lord to come in at His time.
  • Sharing Your Testimony; The Gospel Bridge
  • EE Diagnostic Questions and Gospel Presentation
  • Using Tracts, Survey Forms and Questionnaires
  • Handling Objections - People who don't believe the Bible; don't believe in the existence of God, in heaven, in life after death, …
  • Sharing Your Faith with Kids - using wordless book, EE cube, and the Gospel Hands
  • Sharing Your Faith with the Elderly - Reference to Rev. Philip Heng's Evangelism Seminar Notes: The Essential Vocabulary for personal evangelism esp. in dialects.
  • Dealing with life issues, doubts and excuses - some people will joke "I need money, job … where is God?" We open a prayer genuinely for that need and then the rest of that prayer is for the Lord to lead us.
  • Tracking our Evangelism progress - keep a diary, commitment and follow-through.

Most of the time in class we will be doing lots of role-playing and focusing on the practical aspect of witnessing, memorizing Bible verses there and then. On-the-job-training we will be visiting homes and the sick; making flower craft and singing songs in different dialects.

Trainees are required to read two text books: (1) Friendship Evangelism - The Caring Way to Share Your Faith by Arthur G. McPhee and (2) Evangelism Explosion by D. James Kennedy.
