My parents want me to play a certain sport, but I hate it. What should I do?

"Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right."
Ephesians 6 : 1

Your parents probably have a good reason for wanting you to play that sport. They may want you to learn teamwork and good sportsmanship and to stay in good physical condition. So give the sport a chance. If you still don't like it, talk it over with your parents. Be respectful and explain how you feel. Suggest other ways to have the same kind of experience-like playing another sport or being in a club that you would enjoy more. It's good to learn a wide variety of skills.

If you try hard regardless of how you feel and try to see it through to the end of the season, you will learn lessons and gain another skill that you may use in the future. Your parents are more likely to grant your request for a change if they know you gave 100%. God wants you to try your hardest, too.

ACTIVITY
What sport interests you the most? Who is your favourite professional player? Talk to a parent about the possibility of going to see him or her play.

Hint: You may have to save your money to pay for the tickets.
