FAMILY/HOME WORSHIP IN 2007

For the past few years I have been conducting church visitation to our members and regular worshippers homes. Thank God for the good response from our people who came along with me. We had a wonderful time of singing, reading the Bible and a short exhortation. This time we shall have family/home worship. I have called it family/home worship because there are some people who are singles. Its been a along time since Gracians came together for such worship.

What is a Family/Home worship?
This is a gathering of God's people in a house for worship. We gather in a home with a Christian family/single to sing, share our testimonies of praise and thanksgiving to God, read the Bible and listen to an exhortation.

The Book of Hebrews exhorts us to come together: "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting (encouraging) one another, and so much as ye see the day approaching" (Heb. 10: 25).
What's the purpose of God's people coming together? It is for encouragement. Life is too difficult. We face discouragement and disappointment constantly. We must come together for encouragement. Such encouragement will come from God, through His precious Word and through His people, as we help and exhort one another. The family/home worship can be such a place.

It is also a place to give thanks to the Lord. As we share our blessings with one another we will be encouraged to see how the Lord has been good and gracious to us. Our faith in Him can be strengthen. I am sure the Lord has been good to so many of us in 2006. Now as we enter 2007, we will continue to give praise to Him.

It is also a place to testify for the Lord if you have any non-Christian family members. They will have the opportunity to meet the people from our church. Gracians, this is our opportunity to bear good testimony and witness to them for Jesus Christ. May the Lord use such occasion to bring the lost to Himself!

What to do?
If you intent to open your home for this gathering, do not feel compel to prepare lots of food for the guest. That's the least of thing to be bothered with. A simple refreshment would do. If there is not enough chairs not to worry. Our people can sit on the floor. Leave the program to Pastor. Be prepared to share a short testimony of the Lord's goodness and grace upon you and your family. It is only appropriate to listen to the host too.
