THE SHELTER HOME OF FILADELFIA'S MINISTRY

Thank you very much for your support towards our ministry. Filadelfia Home Shelter (Rumah Perteduhan) is a place of shelter for those from broken homes, single parents, orphans, and those who are in need of shelter.

The land is 20 x 15 meters. We have bought the land at S$1,700 (Rp.10,000.000). Thank God for two brothers who contributed towards the purchase of this land. We intend to build two stories consisting of eight rooms. The building can accommodate 40-50 children (including dormitories for boys and girls).

The building project will begin from the end of August till the end of March 2008 (5 months project). The cost of the building is S$40,000. The details (the sketch of building) will send to Rev. Tan soon. Thanks.
Dear Gracians,

When I was in Batam two Sundays ago I saw the land they want to put shelter home on. It is a good site. It is situated in an area where they can reach out to the poor and needy. The location is ideal. It is also not too far from the main road.

Thank God for giving these brethren the vision to reach out to the poor. There are many opportunities to do so in Batam. They are putting Galatians 6: 10 into practise.

The cost is also within reach of the church. Grace church can make this ministry a part of our outreach. Our young people and adults can visit the shelter home regularly to conduct classes for them in time to come.

Do pray for them as they embark on this project. We can also contribute financially to this work but let Session decide on how we can help them and we will inform the church later.

The shelter home is only a 10 minutes drive from the church. A church member is currently living next to the site. It is good as the people would be able to monitor the building progress of the home.

At the moment the area is not supplied by tap water, so people living there depend on well water. They have electricity. But this matter of water may be solved only in a year or so.

It was good to have a group of church members coming to this site for prayer on the Sunday I was there. These people are really committed to the ministry of expansion. Filadelfia is only a small congregation of about 60 members and yet they have a fervent zeal to serve the Lord. May their example serve as a challenge to us to serve the Lord zealously and faithfully. The Lord is coming again. While we still have the strength to do His work, let us be available to do so.

ONE SOUL SAVED

Thank God for the salvation of Sis. Elene Ng's mother (Mrs. Agnes Ng). On 18 August, Sis. Jenny Chin and I went to her home to remove some charms and an urn for burning joss sticks. It was a joy to bring those items back to church and have them burned.

I was very encouraged that Mrs. Agnes Ng told me that she was very impressed by the Christian testimony of her children, Elene and her brother at home. This is wonderful. Let every Christian be an example for Jesus Christ in the home. Our non-Christian loved ones are always looking at us (Matt. 5: 13-16).

Mrs. Ng is now attending the Mandarin Service. Pray for her to grow in her Christian life.

Do not give up hope in seeking to see your loved ones come to Christ. Pray for them earnestly. Be a good testimony always in and outside of the home.
